General website research- #5 - The Chemical Brothers

Aritst- The Chemical Brothers
Genre- Big Beat, Electronica
Link- http://www.thechemicalbrothers.com/#credit-1

The website is slightly different as it is the first to have moving image imbeded into it that I have looked at. The electric blue ring is somewhat of a staple for the Chemical brothers and it surrounds their name here once more.

The home page can only be accessed by scrolling through a total of 7 slides. These slides contain various different quotes about the bands achievements from music institutional sources such as the NME, Pitchfork and The Concequence Of Sound. Acompanied by dance and concert imagery the quotes stand to essentially promote the bands new release 'Born In The Echo's'.

On the final slide we are shown an array of different purchessing methods, whether that be through Itunes, Google Play, HMV or their official store.  This is indicated by the four gadegets in the center of the page with the album artwork surrounding them.

Before entering the 'home section' the band greets the fans "Greetings chemical brothers and sisters". Once at the home section (Which is still only half way down the page while scrolling), the user has access to the standard gagets on the top left hand side (7 once again) of 'News', 'Live', Store' and 'Forum'.

If the user decides to further scroll down, a live twitter feed can be seen. It is greatly interesting to note the creation of a viral esc element in their creation of the #borninechoes hashtag. Bellow this we see a map acompanied by tour dates in which the user can see where the band will be performing and see it on the map itself.

The highly userfriendly interface of this website truley stands out with astheticly pleasing imagery and navigation as well as the seemless integration of social media into the website itself. Evidence of this can be found in the tour date section with the "Who's going button" and "Add youself" which connects the user's social media to the site.

Influences: Social media links! Much like the chemical brothers, I intend on creating a thriving hub of social network on my website including that of twitter, soundclound, and instagram.

  1. Influences from this? Social media especially. Same point as for video research - make it clear where you APPLY research.
